In 1946, the Hartford Jaycees and the Hartford Courant decided to form a summer baseball league in the greater Hartford area and named it the Jaycee Courant Baseball League. Since 1946, the League has had three directors: Ed Knapp, Charles Horvath and Peter Kokinis. Pete Kokinis, the former Athletic Director for the Town of Wethersfield, has directed the league since 1975. The league originally played all its games at Colt Park in Hartford until 1997, when the program expanded to almost every Town in the Greater Hartford area. In 1983, the Greater Hartford Jaycees Foundation replaced the Hartford Jaycees as the co-sponsor of the Jaycee Courant League, and in 2006, TD Bank replaced the Hartford Courant as the other co-sponsor.

The purpose of the league is to allow youngsters, ages 13 to 19, the opportunity to play baseball during the summer months. The league requires adult coaches who receive orientation at three preseason meetings. These meetings include a baseball clinic that is put on by our State college coaches. Teaching good sportsmanship, and giving youngsters from the city and suburbs an opportunity to meet and compete with each other is beneficial  to all.

The JCTD Bank baseball league is one of the largest independent baseball programs in the United States.
